The NZ Ironman event held at Lake Taupo on March 1 saw Exelite Industries once again supply its unique brand of self-illuminating safety vests to 20 of the course marshalls, all of which were worn from early in the morning on race day through to the last competitor coming home around midnight. The day started well enough weather-wise but soon deteriorated into the type of conditions that make the Exelite range of products come into their own. Race Director, Wayne Reardon, thought the vests were extremely effective in increasing the awareness and safety of the marshalls and believes the LUMIVEST to be a valuable piece of equipment to add to similar events. Exelite also supplied the event with a number of LUMISTRIPs used as spot prizes.
